How can I install a ShiVa3D app on an iPhone?

You feel lost? You don't understand how to use ShiVa?

Hi,

ShiVa 1.9.* is far too old to publish games. It really is just a learning version at this point. If your goal is to publish your creations, you need to buy a ShiVa license and work with our 2.0 beta versions, which have up to date engines which work with the latest releases of Xcode and iOS.

All that said, you also need a valid Apple developer account and go through the signing process. The certification process on iOS is quite a bit involved, and also requires a yearly subscription to the Apple developer program. Here's an overview: http://www.shiva-engine.com/doc/publish ... ification/

Hi,

I'm new here. Just wanted to start with ShiVa on my iPhone. What are the first steps? Should I choose Shiva 2.0? Sorry, I'm far from tech things and simply can't decide where to start from.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

the first step would be to make a test export. Grab one of our game samples, export it through ShiVa 2.0 beta 9, and try to get it on your iDevice. A guide on how to do it can be found here, as I posted before: http://www.shiva-engine.com/doc/publish ... ification/
Let me know how this goes.

If that test is successful, you should start developing your game. ShiVa 2.0 b9 will be required to publish, but 1.9.2 can be used to develop too if you want to. Projects from 1.9.2 can be loaded into 2.0 without issue. Apart from common sense (don't throw millions of polygons onto a mobile device, don't use giant textures, don't code exclusively for controllers when you know that most people will only use a touch screen), there isn't much that's different from developing a desktop game to a mobile game. The biggest hurdle will probably be the touchscreen, since you cannot use the mouse handlers if you want to incorporate multitouch. Here's a tutorial: http://www.shiva-engine.com/shiva-multitouch-explained/ and there's also demo code in the samples.
