Hi all,

To let you know we just opened a new beta program for the ShiVa Windows Phone 7 engine, available to all licensed users (both Basic and Advanced). You can subscribe to the program here: http://beta.stonetrip.com

We also created a new dedicated forum.

Wow!

It's days like today that makes me glad you guys give a lot of focus to the UAT/alternative platforms.

Can't wait to give this a try.

Now I need to check the current Windows Phones for which has decent 3d performance!

Very cool :)

Not sure though if I am still meant to be too happy after yesterdays declaration of death of WP7 and punishment towards all who bought a WP7 phone (like my Omnia7) as WP8 will not be the same breed and not even support XNA anymore, nor will wp7 devices be able to go up to wp8. (not that I like the fact that Microsoft will drop their neutred painfull database fake layer from WP7 by switching to sqlite :D)

But assuming that Stonetrip intended to support Windows 8 for real we are fine likely as Windows 8 apps will run with limited modifications on WP8 too (same kernel, same dx, ...), so all thats required is likely a recompiled ARM engine version :D
I'm no stonetrip representative, just a happy board member like you :)

That's great news!

I have 2 things to say:

1) The market of WP7 will be still strong for at least 1.5-2 years for multiple reasons: WP 7.8 will keep the current user base, people will not upgrade until their contract expire (2 years usually). If I'm not mistaken, there are 6M+ users on WP7.x

2) All the work that Shiva devs are doing for WP7 engine can be re-used for PS Vita devices and all the future PlayStation Mobile devices - this one is very desired for us.

Kudos!

Also, all the 7.x apps will run on 8.x devices, so I suspect XNA will be available for WP8. Correct me if I'm wrong.
