Updated tutorials for IOS

Postby csw2014 » 2014-09-05 14:15

So, i want to make ios version of my android game and fired up my old mac mini with 10.7.5 and xcode 4.6.2 (i'm unable to upgrade further than that), i followed some shiva ios tutorials but noticed that they're old and the results i had don't match the ones on the tutorials, for example S3DClient_iPhone and S3DClient_iPad, i don't have those when i build with xcode, i only got a S3DClient_IOS, nothing else and didn't found more info about that, so i got stuck.
Any new shiva IOS tutorials around? i couldn't find them.

The remaining mess of making certificates and profiles i sorted out, but later noticed that my ipod with ios7.1 is unable to run as development device with xcode 4.6.2, this version of xcode only supports up to ios6, and i can't upgrade to xcode 5 because of being old mac mini, and apple doesn't allow my ipod downgrade to ios6... my question is, can i build ios version without physical device attached with xcode, use only simulator? get the final build file and later on copy manually to my ipod for more testing, etc?

Sorry about basic questions but i'm newbie at mac world...

Also, to develop for iOS you do need to register a device in your developer profile (even if you don't own one)... As least I wasn't able to run an app in the simulator until I did so.

New tutorials for iOS as well as the certification process are already in the 2.0 (beta). Please understand that we will not update the current tutorials for 1.9.2 as 2.0 is our main focus now.

Thanks for the link Icocea, i wished i saw that before spending a full weekend trying to make it work with xcode 4.6... i won't spent more money again on a new mac just to install xcode5, i'm done with Macs.

Great will be a similar approach as the Marmalade sdk, which i used on previous games, you can compile and release ios version on Windows, without touching a Mac, that's what is true and simple multi platform programming.
